About This Coffee
FAUSTO BURBANO – BALBOA FARM
Coffee, when it is born from family and worked with patience, becomes heritage. This is the spirit at Finca Balboa, located in the village of La Palma at 1,850 meters above sea level, where Fausto Burbano has turned coffee cultivation into a school of life for his children and grandchildren, teaching them each day to love the land and to pursue excellence in specialty processes.
In these privileged mountains of Huila, the Geisha variety is cultivated with exceptional care—a jewel of specialty coffee that reveals its full potential through a traditional natural process. In this method, the coffee cherry is dried slowly in the sun with its skin intact, allowing the fruit’s natural sugars to infuse the bean with greater sweetness, complexity, and aromatic richness. Each cherry is harvested at its exact point of ripeness, ensuring a clean, exotic, and deeply expressive sensory profile.
Work at Finca Balboa is entirely a family affair. At every stage—from picking to drying—multiple generations participate, sharing knowledge, discipline, and attention to detail. More than producing coffee, the Burbano family preserves an agricultural tradition that strengthens over time and looks confidently toward the future.
Respect for nature is a fundamental pillar of this project. Caring for water, protecting the soil, and maintaining balance with the environment are part of the farm’s daily routine. Here, coffee is not produced at any cost, but with a conscious and responsible vision, understanding that true quality is born from a healthy relationship with the land.
The natural Geisha from Finca Balboa is not just a high-end coffee—it is the living expression of family labor, of the patience required for sun drying, and of the knowledge passed down through generations. In every cup travels the character of Huila, the dedication of a family, and the promise of a coffee made with soul, time, and purpose.
